Project aim and goals
The overall aim of the research is to increase the wellbeing of elders and their contribution to New Zealand socially and economically, including recognition of these.
The key goals for the project are to:
- Develop a framework of tested practices that contribute to elders' productive engagement in and with organisations
- Develop an economic model that estimates the cost-benefit of elders' productive engagement
Research process
There were four phases to our study:
- Working with elders to find out about their experiences with organisations in a range of communication interactions, as well as interviewing organisational representatives to find out about their interactions with older people.
- Running joint-workshops with elders and organisational representatives to identify practices that contribute to positive elder-organisation dealings.
- Trialling the set of practices in organisations.
- Running joint workshops to develop and roll-out a set of robust 'age-friendly' practices
