Dr Corbet's main research interests are primarily based on the areas of financial economics; financial econometrics and the study of financial crises. However, Shaen's recent works have been at the forefront of FinTech research, specifically focusing on the effects of blockchain and cryptocurrency development on finance. He is also working on a number of funded projects investigating the role that finance can play when combatting climate change.
He has previously worked as an equities trader, and as an economist with the Central Bank of Ireland. He has also acted as an expert witness in many high-profile international court cases, also providing expert reports to a variety of international government departments and regulatory authorities.
