Case synopsis | “We think the blue ocean is off-road. There’s lots of effort going into electric motorcycles that are for the road. In China, for example, you don’t see petrol motorbikes on the roads - only electric. But off-road is not seeing anything like that investment. We did a project with NZTE (New Zealand Trade and Enterprise) where their investments team searched for investments in off-road electric vehicles. They could only find six investments and two of them were ours. But the off-road market is really large. Including ATVs and UTVs maybe two-thirds of the New Zealand and US markets are off-road, unregistered vehicles. There’s no product we go up against that is a direct competitor – we are up against combustion engines only,” Timothy Allan, CEO of UBCO Bikes. |
